Competitors
Follow public Instagram accounts and compare their followers, pace and engagement with yours.
In the Competitors block in Analytics you follow public Instagram accounts and compare their followers, posting pace and engagement with your own account.
Before you start
Coolposts reads other accounts' public numbers through Meta, using your Instagram linked to your Facebook Page. So you need:
- The brand's Facebook Page connected in Channels.
- Your Instagram account linked to that Page. If it isn't, link it in Meta Business Suite → Settings → Accounts, then reconnect Facebook in Channels.
See Connect your social accounts.
Follow a competitor
- Open Analytics and scroll down to Competitors.
- Type their Instagram username (with or without the @; a link to their profile works too).
- Press Follow.
It has to be a business or creator account: personal accounts can't be followed. To stop following an account, press the × at the end of its row.
What the table compares
Your Instagram account comes first, marked You, with the competitors below, from most to fewest followers. The best figure in each column is in green.
- Followers and their change over the period you picked.
- Posts a week.
- Avg. likes and Avg. comments per post.
- Engagement: likes and comments per post, divided by followers.
The numbers are updated once a day. Averages use their posts in the period you pick at the top of Analytics, out of their last 25. The follower change shows once there are at least two days of numbers since you started following the account.
If a row says Not updated, Instagram didn't answer at the last reading; the reason is shown next to it.
Limits per plan
Competitors are part of the paid plans. Each brand can follow up to 10 accounts on Starter, 30 on Pro and 100 on Custom. The counter next to Follow shows how many you have.
You can also add competitors to your client reports.
