Design in Canva

Create or edit a post's images in Canva and bring them back with one click.

You can design a post's images in Canva and bring them straight into the post, or open a photo that's already in the post in Canva to edit it. You need a Canva account; a free one works.

Design a new image

  1. In a post, under Media, press Add → Design in Canva.
  2. Choose a size: Square (1080 × 1080), Portrait (1080 × 1350), Story or Reel (1080 × 1920) or Landscape (1200 × 630). For a Story post Canva opens at the Story size straight away.
  3. Canva opens in a new tab with a blank design of that size. Design as you normally would.
  4. Press Return to Coolposts at the top right of Canva.

Coolposts brings the design back as PNG and adds it to the post. Every page of the design becomes a photo, so a design with several pages becomes a carousel. The Canva tab closes on its own.

Edit a photo in Canva

Hover over a photo in the post and press Edit (then Canva if you also have Adobe Express).

  • If the photo was made in Canva from Coolposts, the same design opens again.
  • Any other photo is uploaded to your Canva account and placed on a new design of the same shape.

When you return, the first page takes the place of the photo, and any extra pages are added after it.

The first time

The first time you use Canva, the new tab asks you to connect your Canva account to Coolposts. Press Allow. Each person on your team connects their own Canva account.

What Coolposts can do in your Canva account

  • Create designs (the blank or photo designs you start from a post).
  • Read the design you return, to export its pages as images.
  • Upload a photo from the post to your Canva uploads, when you edit it in Canva.

Your designs stay in your Canva account. Coolposts keeps the exported images in the post and the design's id, so Edit can reopen it.

Disconnect Canva

Open the menu with your name at the bottom of the side bar → Personal information → Connected apps → Disconnect. Coolposts revokes its access in Canva and deletes the connection. Images already in your posts stay there.

If it doesn't work

  • Nothing opens: your browser blocked the new tab. Allow pop-ups for app.coolposts.co and try again.
  • The image doesn't appear in the post: keep the post open in Coolposts while you design, and use Return to Coolposts rather than closing the Canva tab.
  • Still stuck? Contact support.
