Followers and audience

How many followers you gain and lose, and who follows your Instagram account.

Two blocks in Analytics tell you how many followers you gain and lose, and who follows you.

Follower balance

  1. Open Analytics and pick the period.
  2. Scroll down to Follower balance. If the brand has several accounts, pick one with the buttons on the right.
  • Gained and Lost: new followers and people who left in the period.
  • Net: the difference. With Compare on, you also see the change against the previous period.
  • Per day: the average net change per day.
  • Per post: the net change divided by the posts of the period.

Below is a chart with one column per day: gains in green, losses in red. Hover over a day to see its figures.

What each network reports

  • Instagram and Facebook report new followers and people who left every day, so you see gained, lost and the chart.
  • X and TikTok only report a follower total, so you see the net change.

The change shows after a couple of days of follower counts, and networks report followers a day or two late.

Audience

The Audience block shows who follows your Instagram account: Gender, Age, Top countries and Top cities, as a share of followers. Hover over an age bar to see how many women and men are in that bracket.

The Audience block with the split by gender, age, countries and cities
  • It's updated once a day and doesn't depend on the period you pick.
  • Instagram only shares who follows an account once it has 100 followers.
  • For a newly connected account, the audience is read with the next refresh, within a few hours.
  • Facebook and X don't share this.

You can add follower growth and the audience to your client reports.
