API and MCP
Create API keys for your scripts and connect AI assistants through the MCP server.
With an API key, your own scripts and AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT and others that support MCP) can use Coolposts the way you do: schedule posts, upload media, read analytics or answer comments. It's part of the paid plans.
Create a key
- Open Settings in the side bar.
- Under API & MCP, type a name for the key (for example, the assistant that will use it) and press Create key.
- Copy the key right away: Your new key (shown once). Later you only see how it starts.
Only the workspace owner can create and revoke keys. A key acts as the owner on every brand in the workspace, so keep it like a password.
Connect an AI assistant (MCP)
The card shows the MCP server's address, which ends in /api/mcp. The assistant identifies itself with the Authorization: Bearer header followed by your key.
For Claude Code, the ready-made command appears when you create the key: press Copy command and paste it in your terminal. In other assistants, add an HTTP MCP server with that address and that header.
The assistant can see your brands and accounts, upload media, create, edit, move, check, publish and delete posts, find the next free slot, read and answer comments and messages, look up analytics and best times, and manage message automations, bio pages, form contacts and links.
Use the REST API
The API is the same one the app uses, at the address the card shows. Send the key with every request in the Authorization: Bearer header, followed by the key.
Revoke a key
The list of keys shows when each one was last used. Press Revoke and it stops working straight away.
If the workspace goes back to the Free plan, keys stop working until you're on a paid plan again. See Plans and billing.
