Short links and tracked links
Shorten links, count their clicks and track the links in your posts with UTM tags.
A short link is a short address that leads to the web page you choose and counts every click. Use it in a story, a newsletter or a QR code. Coolposts can also swap the links in your posts for tracked links.
Create a short link
- In the side bar, open Bio page and go to the Short links tab.
- Under New short link, paste the destination address.
- If you like, write the end of the address (for example, xmas-sale) and a name. If you leave the end empty, Coolposts makes a random one.
- To measure it in your website analytics, turn on Add UTM tags and fill in utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign.
- Press Shorten. The link is copied to your clipboard.
The end needs at least 3 characters: letters, numbers, dashes and underscores, with no spaces or accents.
Change or delete a link
In the list, press Edit to change the destination, the end or the name, or Delete to remove it. If you change the end or delete the link, the old address stops working.
The list also shows the buttons, images and icons of your bio pages and the links in your posts, with their clicks. You change those in the page or in the post.
Tracked links in posts
On paid plans, when you create a post for Facebook or X, Track links appears. Turn on Count clicks on the links in this post and, when it's published, each link in the text is swapped for a short link, one per network.
- They carry utm_source with the network's name and utm_medium=social.
- If the post has a Campaign, they also carry utm_campaign with its name.
- Tags already in the address are kept.
Instagram and TikTok show links as plain text that can't be clicked, so links there aren't swapped. Stories aren't either.
Stats
The Stats tab brings together every link of the brand: bio pages, short links and links in posts. You see visits, clicks, click-through, conversions, day by day, where people clicked from, and their countries and cities. Only people are counted: bots and link previews aren't, and no cookies are used.
Limits
The Free plan includes 5 short links made by hand and stats for up to 30 days. Paid plans have no limit on links and show up to 180 days. Tracked links in posts are part of the paid plans.
